BIBHU MOHAPATRA BACKSTAGE NAILS, MAKE-UP, HAIR SPRING 2012

PRESENTATION SPRING 2012

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, NYC Lincoln Center

Designer Bibhu Mohapatra must have gotten bravissimo accolades on his last presentation during the recent New York Fashion Week.

How do we know-besides the fact that we thought this posh label showed some of the most refreshing and flattering-lady-like silhouettes, high quality workmanship with clearly hand wrought details and sourced elegant, deluxe fabrics-yes extravagant is a good word here too---  we saw all week???

Nope-our proof was that we attended the presentation with one of the most stylish matrons of fashion ever-who with a dismissive wave of her hand-would gain access to a White House State Dinner....and she nodded her head in approval -as we circled around...

BACKSTAGE:

Prior to the above moment-we had backstage access and as soon as we saw the talented Erin Giddings of Zoya/Art of Beauty-we knew we were in for a show stopper!

For the collection's inspiration-previously unseen polaroids (!!!) from the late 70's/80's  by legendary Helmut Newton-acclaimed for his envelope pushing fashion photography---that at that time-was borderline scandalous.

Epitomized for us in that Robert Palmer "Addicted To Love" video from years back....

For this runway show-nails got beautiful with metallics and neutrals-like the above Richelle and Summer...lush tones that flowed with the apparel-colors like beige, tangerine, onyx, azure---and the textures of the sheer chiffon, silk, techno satin, and silk crepe.

Mirrors

WHAT ELSE we learned was that Zoya's  top selling Fall Collection-SMOKE&MIRRORS ---was inspired by the colors from Bibhu Mohapatra's Fall show.

Zoya SMOKE-the Healthy New color of fashion

ZOYA Nails is a fashion week staple---and what's good to know---ZOYA was one of the first nail care labels to get rid of all the chemically caustic stuff---while delivering a quality polish that is truly long lasting without damaging one's nail in a vegan friendly formula.

AND the color options are insane-over 300...www.zoya.com

HAIR-by Rutger for Cutler/Redken was a neat ballerina style bun with a bit of tease up top for height---and shine shine shine-courtesy of finishing spray of Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Shine.

Charlotte Willer for Maybelline New York did a classic smoky eye and strong lip---with the star product being the new Falsies Mascara in Very Black...and the recently revised best-selling Great Lash Mascara with a new applicator brush.

PRESENTATION: Stunning-clothes for the modern women without foregoing an ounce natural elegance...sexy confidence...including the confidence to avoid the trends.

Flowing chiffon gowns embellished with Swarovski crystal, lace, melting steel and crystal embroideries. Lovely

Day wear-Tangerine draped blouse, Cotton pin dot jacket, slouchy trousers
