STYLE360-New York Fashion Week@ Metropolitan Pavilion

METROPOLITAN PAVILION, West 18th Street, NYC

Tumblir, Java Monster (a delish coffee/caffeine/energy drinks in three flavors), the New York Post and others hopped aboard STYLE360 shows for a few days of fashionable displays at the Metropolitan Pavilion event space...a large locale known to many as the place where there have gotten in line for worthy sample sales like Ralph Lauren and Hermes.

During the most recent NYFW-attendees got to spend some time getting to know some exhibitors who showcase anything from accessories, apparel like o=warm outerwear, cozy Merino wool chunky knits to fab footwear with supportive midsoles---including earth tone, men's and women's looks from the authentically Australian brand,  EMU...founded in the same Geelong tannery town as where the "original ugly sheepskin boot" was conjured up by surfers hanging ten on the renowned Bells Beach. We think-ugly no more---as their runway show proved....

WHAT ELSE: The Accessory Lounge

We got to chat a bit with Kathleen Kirkwood, who sells a line of shape wear on QVC...and recently launched Bra Recycling Agency-"a program that enables consumers to send old bras to a recycling plant where they will be turned into carpet cushion....(and) steel underwire is removed and sent to a metal recycler."

Very cool---with revenue dated to cancer research and detection efforts.

One of the most amazing creations we saw all week---this multi-tiered confection took three days for two guys to make ---and its an edible CAKE---with sculptured icing details of all the exhibitors-magnificently re-created. The talent in the kitchen---Chef Dana Herbert of Desserts by Dana---based in New Castle, Delaware-but worth the ride (after all, the state is sales tax free)...with an unmatched in inventive sweetness available to order-just check out the gallery ---of wedding and celebration cakes, cupcakes, pies, tarts ---you name it ---WOW.
