TÄOS Footwear ATHLETIC GIRL"S GUIDE TO COMFY+STYLISH SHOES F/W2013- S/S 2014

Outdoor Retailer/SLC-NYC

Growing up in fashion forward urban environments (NYC/PARIS), out footwear world was pretty distinctly categorized...single sole, name dropping designer spikers (acquired at sample sales, mostly) we wore all the time -back in the day when our cells musta replicated at a faster rate as we were on our feet all the time...

And then...for hiking, hiking boots, for snowboarding, snowboarding boots, and for running/gym---multi-tasking Nikes.

Now of course, we have six different kinds of running/workout shoes (AT LEAST), depending on the activity.

And we divide our other footwear into time worn categories. As in how long we will be on our feet, how many subway stairs to scale up/down, how much walking we anticipate, assuming the cross-town buses are an abstract concept when we need them!

And weekend kicks...for hiking-different weights/materials depending on terrain and hauling pack weight, hanging out shoes, water shoes etc...a whole separate closet.

For example-these gorgeous Casare Paciotti heels are rated < 1 hour-as in -in total- we can survive less than 60 minutes standing on these-even if spread out over several hours. These pumps are qualified for -like-taxi to sit down dinner outings.
Kitten heels-are a good alternative for women-as they can bridge the work to after hours standing at a cocktail party/bar etc- still appropriate category of footwear.

Though in NYC-there still is the possibility-very real-that the heels get trashed cause of all the gratings in the sidewalk. And not too stable for mad dashes to catch departing subways. Still... our rating: < 4 hours.

And then there are the kicks that have springy enough insoles/midsoles...that give us a bit of height, that allow for deftly dodging texters on the crowded sidewalks (who really need to engage service dogs now- to guide them cuz they don't even look up/where they're going -from their smartphones)...that are stylish enough to wear to fashion media events without trepidation-that do not contribute AT ALL-to the inevitable head to toe scanners of our fashionista colleagues -to shudder in disdain, barely concealed...NOPE...the footwear we are talking about, passes the test, AND are rated > 5 hours.
