Harare Fall/Winter 2014 #NYFW-Women's RTW

NYC

Another Persian carpet catwalk…and another fab fabric laden collection-this time by new to us label HARARE NY by Aussie designer Caroline Fuss.  She delivered a terrific collection of expressionist painters' (Frankenthaler, Diebenkorn, ad Rothko) inspired-wonderfully paired separates---with stylish sophistication- and spot-on tailoring skills on display …

Even with a really late start---our glimpse backstage had us telling our fellow attendees…"wait, wait - it's worth it."

cowl neck sweaters-theme we saw a lot-a very appropriate one, given the weather ---too.

Winter staples like cozy knits, buttery soft leathers, mixed with hand woven and embroidered textiles from Guatemala -pictured above--and as belts…and "…canvases of Peruvian alpaca…"

"Finding inspiration in the vivid palette and abstract works of expressionist artists…"

With women wearing the same clothes year round-layering with sweaters, blazers---with skin bearing backs not seeming out of place on many of the dresses.

this pleated skirt is INCREDIBLE-can't tell from the picture but the inside of the pleats are of a sheer material…stunning---air brushing technique of pigment dispersion-reference to Frankenthaler's approach of diluting paint.

back cut-outs
wool plaid flattering cocoon shape---

rich mix of patterns and solid colors -totally worked----

Rothko inspired graduations of a color...

leather strips and sheer pleats ----nice
Hair-wise-it looked to us like here was dry shampoo involved in the coifs by Oribe…with low ponytails or piece textured tresses with shot of white powder at the-teased crowns…

We really like the makeup---a bit stronger eyes (smoky-dark plum lined- with a bit of shine on the lids)- than what we typically think of a natural Bobbi Brown look-with nude, barely there lips and clean matte skin…with bit of sculpting blush.
